Protecting Your Computer With A Surge Protector

Now that you have that laptop or desktop computer you have always wanted, it it time to think about properly protecting it.  It makes sense that if you have spent anywhere from $600.00 to $1200.00 plus, you want to keep it safe from power surges.

One of the best and most inexpensive things you can buy is a good surge protector.  Think about this, would you rather replace a surge protector because it was destroyed by a power surge or would you rather replace your laptop for example.

Some surge protectors will come with insurance like protection if your computer is ever damaged by a surge.  This is a plus.  Make sure you read their conditions so you know what they will cover.  There may be some limitations you need to be aware of.

Whatever you do, do not plug your computer right into a wall socket.  Get some protection.  Do not go cheap on this piece of equipment.

A surge protector is extremely important when taking your laptop from place to place.  This laptop accessory is a must.  You never know what you are about to plug into.  The building could be an electrical nightmare.  Play it safe, always use a surge protector.  Better to replace a surge protector than a computer.

Important Note: a power bar and a surge protector are not the same thing.  It is important to note that turning off your surge protector will not protect your computer.  No matter how good your surge protector is, it will not protect your computer from a direct lighting strike.  Only a UPS will do that.
