Heather Hamilton, Non Timber Forestry Products (NTFP) Conference: www.novaforestalliance.com (February 2010)

Jeff Brown was recently invited by Nova Forest Alliance to speak at a two-day conference for producers of non-timber forest products. The audience – almost 80 strong – were looking for ways to grow their businesses. These are the people who bring us the many wonderful things found in the forests, beyond traditional timber. They grow Christmas trees or harvest various plants for medicinal purposes, beauty products and decoration. They supply us with maple syrup, and allow us to serve our families some amazing wild edibles, like mushrooms and fiddleheads. These are generally not techie folks; nor are they your typical business operators. These are farmers, woodlot owners, back-to-the –landers; people who have a passion for the outdoors and all its bounty.

For these land technicians, who wear many hats in their businesses, Jeff helped them see yet another hat they could, and maybe should, consider wearing: that of social networking participant. Jeff gave a very informative overview of social networking – what it is, how it is used, and how it can help grow a business. He shared this knowledge in a fun and audience-appropriate way. Comments heard afterward were very positive: they gained new knowledge and new ideas for how to market their goods to a new, on-line audience.

Jeff is a dynamic and knowledgeable presenter, and was a great addition to our team of speakers at this conference. Many ‘Tweets’, Jeff!

Debbie Adams, Hummingbird Consulting: "Dialogue for Dignity" (January 2010)

We met briefly last evening when I took your card.  I was so inspired by your presentation.  I had been exploring the social utilities as a means of networking for some time with limited success; the session last evening gave me a bit a harness on the whole thing.  So I rushed home and started a new twitter acct.  I have to tell you about my success.  My business concerns itself with the advancement of women in trades and politics and when I launch I'm launching nationally.  You asked rhetorically when is the opportune time to start a conversation'  well I say earlier rather then later.

A way that the twitter search helped me is that it put me onto people who are looking for people like me and I contacted a potential client directly by phone and now we're in talks about the possibility of him bringing me to a provincial conference.

I wanted to pass that on and thank you for the information.  Way to gooooooooooo.

Bill Hildreth, Halifax Home Mortgage: Facebook profile (November 2009)

I really want to thank you for the inspiration.

In the last week or so I have somewhat mastered the basics of Facebook and have accumulated in excess of 120 friends and acquaintances with some effort. In addition I have written my first blog, twittered my first series of twits and have embraced the tech like I have never done before.

The development of relationships with key Referral Sources and customers will be central to my effectiveness as a virtual mortgage broker. I’m telling you , you have inspired a monster. I think you are my new hero , in a very manly way, ha !

Anyway I just wanted to let you know how much you have inspired me and I can’t wait to collaborate on a project with you in the future.
